Ernest Milián Gonzalez

PhD, CMC Manager

Dr. Milián is an expert in process development of viral vectors for gene therapy and viral vaccines. He undertook his doctoral research devoted to the bioprocess optimization of a genetically modified hybridoma cell line at the Cell Culture and Bioprocess Group (UAB). Dr. Milián has also a solid background in industrial viral manufacturing gained along his work at Pfizer (Girona, Spain) improving the production of vaccines for animal health. During his post-doctoral research carried out between the Department of Bioengineering at McGill University and the National Research Council in Montréal, Canada, he focused on cell culture engineering and bioprocess development for viral production mainly for vaccine programs (Influenza virus) and gene therapy applications (Adenovirus and AAVs).

During his post-doctorate he was awarded with the highly competitive Mitacs fellowship to develop a vaccination platform using adenovirus in combination with McGill University and PnuVax Inc. He is author of significant contributions in peer reviewed publications. Dr. Milián joined VCN Biosciences in 2017 and he is responsible for the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) department.
